LESLIE KEE
Born in Singapore.
As a photographer, he works all over the world, mainly in art, fashion, and advertising photography, as well as directing videos. His charity photo book for the Great East Japan Earthquake, "LOVE & HOPE" (2012), won the 40th APA Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award. His photography and art magazine series, "SUPER," actively collaborates with global companies and fashion designers such as YOHJI YAMAMOTO.
His first short film as a director, "THE INDEPENDENTS," won the BEAUTY PRIZE AWARD at the 2015 ASVOFF. His project, "OUT IN JAPAN," which takes portraits of LGBT people in Japan, was selected as a jury recommendation for the Entertainment Division of the 19th Japan Media Arts Festival, sponsored by the Agency for Cultural Affairs. He also produced the music video for Hayami Yu's "Koi no Boogie Woogie Train," the theme song for the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He is also actively involved in raising awareness of the SDGs with the United Nations Information Center.
In 2016, together with NHK, he launched the "→2020 Leslie Kee Connects Portrait Messages" project, which aims to support the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, allowing people all over Japan to share their dreams and goals and strive for a better future.
He has overseen the shooting of over 1,500 portraits for official photographs and promotional videos.
